Open When Letters

Open when letters are a stack of sealed notes, each one meant for a certain moment: a bad day, a birthday, a night when sleep won't come. This printable set gives you 48 of those prompts, split into four sets of 12. One is for a partner, one for a couple living apart, one for a best friend and one for a son or daughter away at college.

Every letter already has its first line printed in italics. "Soup, blankets, bad TV" opens the letter for when your partner is sick; "Go to bed after this letter. I mean it." opens the late-night study one. You carry on from there in your own handwriting.

The letters print two to a sheet and fold in half to fit the envelope template, and the Letter and A4 files each have an envelope sized for their own paper. Labels for all 48 prompts come color-marked by set, with a blank sheet for prompts you think up yourself.

Set the scale to Actual size (100%) so a folded letter slides into the envelope. Use card stock for the envelope pages and ordinary paper for the letters, since it takes ink from any pen. Full-sheet sticker paper turns the label pages into stickers.
