About this printable

This poster puts your family name at the center of a classic layout. The first letter of the name sits inside a laurel wreath, the name itself runs in wide Roman capitals below, and the year you count from, whether a wedding or the first house, follows as EST. with a fine rule on each side.

If you want more, the first names of everyone in the household can go in italics underneath, and a town or city below them. Leave both out and the poster stays simple: wreath, name and year.

Should I type Carter or Carters?

Either. The poster reads THE followed by exactly what you type, so choose the form your family uses on its door or in its letters.

How long can the name be?

Up to 22 characters, hyphens included. Longer names get a slightly smaller type size so they stay within the border.

Can I leave out the first names?

Yes. Both the first names and the place are optional. Without them the poster shows just the wreath, the name and the year.
