Halloween Scavenger Hunt

You hide a card, the kids read it, run to the spot it describes and find the next card there. The last card leads to the treat bag. Each card is a clue to a place in an ordinary home: the fridge, the bathtub, a pillow, the toy box.

The set has three kinds of clue cards. Ages 4 to 7 get short rhymes where the answer is usually the last word. Ages 8 to 12 get "What am I?" riddles that take a little more thought. For toddlers and kids who can't read yet, the picture trail cards simply show a drawing of the next hiding spot. Siblings can each follow their own trail and meet at the treasure.

If you want more to do on the night, there is a picture hunt for the house or party, a colors hunt for the youngest, and two checklists for the trick-or-treat walk: one with pictures, one with points for older kids and teams.

Print at Actual size (100%) on plain printer paper, one sheet per guest or team. To play again next year, slide the pages into sheet protectors and use dry-erase markers. Cards and certificates look better on light card stock of 65 lb (176 gsm).
